Before we can be loved by others, we must learn to love ourselves. This comes easier to some than to others, but we all have positive traits, it’s just a matter of identifying them and owning them. If we can’t see them ourselves, why should we expect anybody else to see them?
There will always be things we don’t like about ourselves, things we struggle with and fight to keep hidden. As long as we are aware of them and allow them to come to the surface from time to time in a safe environment, they can be kept in check. Allow them to simmer for too long, and we might have a fight on our hands at just the wrong time.
We all search for the truth in ourselves. We question what it is about ourselves that defines us as the person we are and the person we want to be. Is our reflection a true representation of what others see?
A little self love takes us a long way in life. It supports us when times are tough, but most importantly, it helps us see what it is about ourselves that others may also find interesting.
